What Warranties Come With a New Kia?

Kia's new vehicle warranty program includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty1 and a 5-year/60,000-mile basic limited warranty2.

What Does the Basic (Bumper-to-Bumper) Warranty Cover?

The basic limited warranty lasts 5 years or 60,000 miles2 and covers several components of the vehicle, except parts like tires, brake pads, and windshield wipers, which will naturally become worn down throughout your Sandusky travels. It addresses defects in materials or workmanship, safeguarding systems like climate control, electrical, and more.

What Does the Powertrain Warranty Cover?

The powertrain warranty covers defects with the engine, axles, transmission, differentials, and propeller shafts for 10 years or 100,000 miles1.

Is the Warranty Transferable to a Second Owner?

Yes, the Kia warranty is transferable to another owner. However, the 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty1 is reduced to a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty at the time you sell the vehicle. 

Is There Rust/Corrosion Protection?

Kia offers an anti-perforation warranty for five years or 100,000 miles3. It covers rust-through situations but excludes rust or corrosion damage that doesn't result in perforation, such as damage typically caused by hail, stones, sand, and salt.

Does Kia Include Roadside Assistance?

Yes, a roadside assistance plan is included for 5 years or 60,000 miles4. If anything were to happen during your travels, you could have your vehicle towed to our Service Department completely free of charge. This service also covers flat tire changes, jump starts, lockout assistance, and out-of-gas help, which will give you peace of mind as you travel to Jackson Street Pier and beyond. 

Are EVs and Hybrids Covered Differently?

Kia's EV System Warranty safeguards key components of the electric drivetrain, including the electric motor, high voltage battery, electric power control unit (EPCU), and on-board charger, for 10 years or 100,000 miles5. Battery coverage also ensures the battery maintains capacity above 70 percent of the original for 10 years or 100,000 miles6.

What Is Not Covered by the Warranty?

The warranty does not cover maintenance items such as oil changes, filters, tires, belts, and brakes. It also doesn't cover wear-and-tear or external damage the vehicle might endure throughout your Route 250 travels. Additionally, damage caused by accidents, neglect, improper maintenance, or environmental factors like hail or flooding is excluded. TOP TIER TEAM = This is the place for you. Exceptional product, value and service. My family and I drove 400 miles round trip to Sandusky - would do it again. Ownership was outside, under my hood, explaining a question I had about my engine. Very friendly and interested in getting things correct. With a wife, 10 year old & 2 year old (and trading in our only car), car shopping can be challenging to actually test drive enough cars to find the one for you. Paul was patient & willing to help with getting everyone in & out of vehicles, toddler car seats & all, in order to help us decide on the '15 Kia Optima that we purchased. Richard was also very helpful in financing & also super friendly. When it's time to either add another car to our family, or trade in this one, I know where I'll be shopping.

We shopped most all of the local dealerships in the area and the sales people were agressive with sales and were angered and offended when you asked them to calm down and some were simply irate when you you told them you were going elsewhere. We stumbled on the Halleen Kia in Sandusky Ohio and the salesman, Mathew Wilhelm, approached us with a calm demeanor gave us some quick info and left us to browse. Once we found a few new vehicles we were interested in, we approached Matt with a few questions and concerns which he answered promptly without hesitation or having to "ask his manager" like at other dealerships. We test drove the vehicles we were interested in and had a very enjoyable experience speaking with Matt. We shared stories and laughs as if we had been friends for years. His kindness was truly refreshing. He made our car buying experience a great one wich we will never forget. He represented himself and his buisness well. I went to them very hesitant. Paul the salesman that helped me was so kind and explained things to me. Even though I had some issues for him to work around he found a way to make the deal work for both of us. I was in to have 2 recalls looked into on my 2012 KIA Optima EX. The associate took the time to explain what they were doing and why. The overall environment was comfortable. No one was a stranger, I felt I'd known everyone I came in contact with for at least 10+years!! (Besides the owner saying "Hi" & scaring the living daylights out of me---that moment you're consumed by whatever you brought to pass the time & aren't expecting anyone to speak to you! Definitely a hilarious moment!) It was VERY apparent that they were there to help someone make ONE of the biggest decisions of their lives; that's best for YOU, the customer and not THEIR pocket!
